With just 11 weeks left this past one has been a busy and productive week!
I officially let my boss know I was leaving and could only work until the end of this month since I won't have a car after April 2nd. I was so lucky to find this job. It was a dream job and one I will miss a lot.
We took my car in for an oil change and inspection so it will be ready to ship next week. It ended up having an issue that thankfully was covered under warranty, but it will be cutting it close being fixed and back to us for car detailing before being shipped.
I've started going through tubs and shredding, tossing, or organizing. We made our 3rd donation drop-off this week of things we aren't able to take with us.
John went through his room and decided what he wanted to sell, donate, or take to college. He narrowed it down to what was in his closet, and what would fit in his car.
We bought these tubs for the move, so we no longer have our stuff in cardboard boxes or mismatched tubs of different sizes. We went in for our second Special Issuance passport appointment. The first time, one of Liam's papers was incorrect so we had to reschedule. This time a different paper was wrong. I was able to get mine, but we will have to have one last and final appointment to get Liam's. The third time's a charm so they say!
I received an email that my tourist passport will expire within the year, so I applied online, which is new. It was a simple and much more efficient way of renewing a passport.
Lastly, we got our international driver's licenses through AAA. You can do this online or in person. We just needed passport photos along with the application. It was quick and easy!
We contacted the vet about what we needed to do before moving the dogs to Europe. They have to have certain vaccines and after checking all 3 only Major needed another Rabies vaccine. They made sure they all had the 15-digit microchips required for Europe. The only thing left for them is to pick up their health certificates for the flight. This has to be done so that they are good within 10 days of the trip, so we will pick these up at the beginning of June.
We are still waiting to hear where John chooses to go to college. He has applied and been accepted to two schools in Colorado, for Early Childhood Education and Respiratory Therapy. He has heard back and has been accepted to those with some scholarships, which is wonderful. We are still waiting to hear about his #1 choice. He applied for the nursing program here in Washington, but we won't know until next week, at the earliest.
We have yet to be assigned a moving company. This works by entering a requested pick-up date and moving companies will bid on your job. So far, no one has taken ours. We were told it could be up to 10 days before our requested pack date of June 4th. I pray that is not the case because having a company locked in and a date set will give me peace of mind.
I will admit that I've been super busy all week and have had a lot on my mind. By this weekend, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed and ready for a break. I woke up this morning to a missed call from Indiana. For those of you who know my mom, she is living in Indiana in an assisted living since being unable to move with us any longer due to health reasons. She had a fall last month and ended up being in the hospital for a month. She was finally back in her apartment last weekend and had another fall last night. After a long night in the ER and some staples in her head where she hit it when she fell, she's home again. (BIG sigh of relief!) Being away from loved ones has got to be the #1 hardest thing as a military spouse.
On to another full but good and productive week!
