8 weeks to Belgium! Two months from now, we will be in Belgium and looking for our new home. 🏠
This week was our Pre-inspection for housing. They walked through the house and looked for things that might need to be taken care of before we leave. She told us she didn't expect we would have any charges at our June 6th final inspection, which is great! 🙏
While the military shipped our first car, it's up to us to find a company to ship our second car since they only pay for one vehicle. We found the company that most military families in Belgium use to ship their second POV and were quoted $1,660 from Tacoma. After speaking with the company, we had several concerns. The first being that only one ship a month leaves from here. If, for some reason, there is a delay or cancellation for the month, we will have to pay for a month's worth of storage, plus the car will be sitting at the dock, where anything can happen to it. Our second concern is that with everything happening with the U.S and other countries' relationships, sailing past the Panama Canal can prove tricky for ships and make timelines unknown. Our other option is to have our car transported to Galveston, Texas, to sail out of port. They have many more sailings, and we would have our car in 26-28 days. The only negative is that this option will cost us $2,700. It's a lot more, but a much simpler process.
We got the pet carriers for the flight this week. We bought expanding carriers on wheels. This way we can easily go through the airport with the dogs and on the flight, the dogs can stretch out with the extra room.
My co-worker came today and took my hydrangeas and other indoor and outdoor plants. I'm so happy she will be giving them a good home. I know it's silly to be sad about leaving plants, but I'm sentimental, and knowing they are going to a good home makes me feel much better.
Still no movers assigned to us yet. We will begin packing ourselves little by little. Things will all work out. 😊
