Thinking back on when we heard that living in Belgium was a possibility, to actually having a home, routine, and friends here is incredible.
I'm not exactly sure what I thought living here would be like, other than different. It is different in a perfect way. Things move slower here, and it's a nice change. No one seems stressed or rushed, and it's contagious. I have felt very peaceful since moving here, even with the loss of my mom, it's made it somehow easier.
We received some exciting news last week. Liam was accepted to attend a volleyball camp. He became interested in Volleyball about a year ago, and most of his Christmas wish list was volleyball items. When we found out we were moving to Belgium, he was thrilled to learn that his new school has a volleyball team. We met the coach when we went into his new school, and she told Liam about the camps. One camp was in Germany, and the other in Italy. The Germany one was a sure thing, as it was smaller and not competitive. The one in Italy was farther away, serious, and no one here has attended it before. It took a bit to get the forms approved and signed, but we did it, and Liam is going to Vincenza!!! We will be tagging along, of course. :)
On Saturday, we were finally able to explore Mons. Mons is the capital of Hainaut province in Belgium’s Walloon Region and is only 20 minutes from us. We ate, shopped, and enjoyed the wonderful weather.
While staying at the hotel prior to getting our new house, I was in the laundry room and met a very nice woman. We got to talking, and I found out that she is from China. I, of course, told her about Liam. Not only will she be teaching Liam Mandarin, but she and her husband have also become our good friends. We went out with them last weekend for lunch, followed by battle go-karts, glow golf, and laser tag. It was a really nice day!
That evening, I woke up very sick in the middle of the night. I'm not sure if it was the stomach flu or food poisoning, but either way, it was rough! I spent all of yesterday lying on the couch with zero energy. I finally started feeling better by last night and slept 10 hours, waking feeling like me again.
This week has had a slow start, and that's ok. We will make up for it, I have no doubt! I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful week!
