Day two of our road trip was absolutely stunning! I have traveled all over the world and have seen beautiful places, but driving through Switzerland today put it in my top two most beautiful places I've seen. The lakes were as blue as the sky. The mountains were green, and the houses were colorful chalets.
Switzerland was gorgeous from start to finish on our drive. It was also expensive. We stopped to get gas, and $100 only got us half a tank of gas. Wow! Even with how expensive it is, I would love to come back and stay a few days and explore.
As soon as we left Switzerland and entered northern Italy, it was the last of the mountains for a while.
It was flat land with a lot of businesses and buildings. Right before we arrived in Vincenza, we started seeing more hills and found this beautiful place I would love to explore.
I have never driven through so many tunnels as we did on our way through Switzerland and Italy. One was a full 10 minutes long. Once arriving in Italy, the tolls started. We paid three tolls in total; the highest being 25 Euros.
We arrived at our hotel just after 3 pm. It's 3 minutes from Camp Ederle, where Liam is playing Volleyball, so it's very convenient. Our hotel is more modern than we've been staying at and has our first bidet!
It's currently almost 90 and sunny. A nice surprise is that almost everywhere here has air conditioning. Once we got checked in, we took Liam to check in for the volleyball clinic on base. He had to try out to know which session he would be taking. While he did that, Arturo and I went to the base exchange. It's like a little Walmart. It isn't as big as the one in Washington, but it's about 3 times the size of ours in Belgium. They also had restaurants we haven't seen since leaving, like 5 Guys, Taco Bell, Popeyes, and Duncan Doughnuts!
Tomorrow, we begin to explore Itay. No plans just yet, but we will find something amazing to do, I have no doubt!.
