Italy trip day 4 ~ Lake Garda

Buon giorno! It's another beautiful day here in northern Italy.

Today we decided to visit gorgeous Lake Garda. We plugged it into the GPS and just over an hour later, voila! Lake Garda isn't much farther than where we were yesterday, but it seems much more tropical.

We toured another castle, the Scaligero Castle of Sirmione.  It was built in the late half of the 14th century. This castle was in a gorgeous location with a very strategic waterfront stance. Since you can't tour the inside of this castle, I preferred the Soave castle. I'll let you judge for yourselves. Let me know what you think!

After we toured the castle, I took this video and noticed the gelato shop, which we had to try!

I chose the strawberry cheesecake, and it was absolutely delicious!
We spent the afternoon looking in quaint shops, exploring all the character the city has.

It was a hot day, and we were disappointed that we weren't better prepared for this area. The only thing we would have changed is that we should have brought our swimsuits with us. We ventured down and walked in the waves. I was so tempted to just go in the water in my dress, since other adults were swimming in their underwear, but I thought better of it and decided we would definitely visit again another time. I could see spending a few days here for sure!

We came back home in time to pick up Liam from volleyball clinic. He said he is having a great time and learning a lot of skills, which is great! He was too tired to go to dinner with us, but we went out for pizza and brought him back his own. Here is the pizza we brought him.

It was a hot dog and french fry pizza, only Liam thought we just threw our fries on it, so he picked them all off before eating it. 😂 For dessert, we went to a bakery and chose four pastries to try. We tried them all and rated them from 1-10. You really can't go wrong with meringue, cannoli, and strawberries and cream.

Tomorrow, Liam only has a half day of training, and then he can finally see a bit of Italy! We don't know exactly what we will see with only a half day to explore, but we will make the most of it like we do every day. Alla prossima!
